He wants to know if they’ve told his wife what happened to his son, who melted in his arms. Fiancée Katia insists she will stay behind but Penny should go along since they’ve known her so long she’s practically one of the guys.īack at the lab, Porter talks to Camila, one of the scientists. Dobbs and Josh have rented a boat to take all of them to a deserted island for a bachelor party getaway. And Penny is an old flame.Ī woman at the bazaar tries to give Penny some kind of protective amulet (this goes nowhere). Brother Josh comes to the wedding party along with his girl Penny, and Marcus isn’t thrilled to see either of them, since Josh is a loud drunk. We cut to a group of young people coming for a wedding in the tropics. ![]() Porter isn’t very cooperative, but that’s not going to stop Edwards. Edwards tells him that he’s an asymptomatic carrier. The man they picked up from that house is the only survivor of the disease- he’s patient zero, Mr. The various small occurrences of the plague have all been contained so far, but it’s just a matter of time. ![]() Edwards takes over at the lab, and we see right away that he’s a jerk. They pull one man out of a house and send him to the hospital for examination.Įlsewhere, on an island, Dr. We get credits as we watch men in hazmat suits checking out a crime scene. It’s a nice bounce back after the so-so second film. The cast does a decent job with it, and the gore effects are pretty over-the-top. And it’s a pretty complex and interesting story. As you might guess from the title, it’s a prequel that shows the origins of the disease from the first two Cabin Fever movies. It’s a little too long to get to know the doomed young people at the beginning, but it eventually gets going nicely. Stars Sean Astin, Currie Graham, Ryan Donowho. In fairness the early scenes inside the research lab were semi decent but the rest of the movie wasn't. What this all boils down to is that "Cabin Fever 3: Patient Zero" was not a good movie and a bit of a slog to keep watching. This is down to many things including that not one character is likeable so in the end you don't care if anyone gets off the island alive or unaffected. Whilst you have the flesh eating virus which is the connection the only other connection is if there is an attractive actress there will be at least an underwear shot and in one case a topless scene.īasically what I am saying is that "Cabin Fever 3: Patient Zero" is not only cliche but poorly done cliche with nothing to make it enjoyable. And then on the other hand we have the typical young friends getting high and getting laid in a remote location. On one hand we have the dark, atmospheric scenes in the research lab which features the over use of slow motion and close ups. ![]() ![]() But then "Cabin Fever 3: Patient Zero" is just your basic virus, horny teens on a get away combination movie and it is so generic and devoid of originality that there is nothing which makes it stand out from the crowd.Īctually that is a lie because "Cabin Fever 3: Patient Zero" feels like the work of two directors hacked together to try and make a movie. When thanks to Porter's frustration the virus escapes the island becomes a battleground as Marcus and his friends not only have to deal with those who become infected by the virus but also those who aren't.įirst things first and I have never been a huge fan of the "Cabin Fever" movies and felt the original, which many were impressed by, was overrated but compared to "Cabin Fever 3: Patient Zero" the original almost seems Oscar worthy. The trouble is that the island is not abandoned as at an old research facility scientists are holding Porter (Sean Astin), a carrier of a deadly virus, against his will as he may also end up being the cure. Marcus (Mitch Ryan) is about to marry the attractive and wealthy Kate (Claudette Lalí) so his old friends plan to take him for one last hoorah with a bachelor party on an abandoned island.
